The Kenya Urban Support Program Phase I (KUSP I) played a transformative role in enhancing urban governance, service delivery, and infrastructure development across 59 municipalities in Kenya. Through strategic investments in institutional strengthening, urban planning, and infrastructure projects, the program significantly improved the quality of life for urban residents while fostering economic growth and sustainability.

Strengthening Urban Governance

  • 59 municipalities legally recognized and granted governance structures.

  • 209 km of pedestrian and bicycle-friendly NMT paths developed.

  • 8 fire stations built, enhancing emergency response and disaster preparedness.

  • 234 km of stormwater drainage systems implemented to mitigate flooding risks.
